According to Iranian state television, the unofficial draft of the “Islamabad Understanding” with the US has been prepared, though it has not yet been finalised. The draft includes details related to the Strait of Hormuz and frozen assets of Iran.

State TV reported that under the proposed agreement, Iran would receive broad authority in the Strait of Hormuz. It would have the power to classify ships and extensive authority over maritime vessel movements.

Tehran would also have exclusive authority to determine the status of ships in the strait and the power to impose restrictions on cargo vessels considered anti-Iranian.

According to state television, Iran would also be authorized to oversee maritime routes, collect navigation service fees, manage security arrangements, and collect compensation for environmental damage.

The draft further states that ships would be required to provide cargo details, and Iranian authorities would decide whether vessels would be permitted to pass based on that information.

Under the proposed deal, Iran would gain access to $12 billion in frozen assets within 60 days.
