Dar holds extensive talks with foreign ministers in New York

NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held wide-ranging interactions with his counterparts from different countries during his visit to the United Nations in New York.

He met with twelve foreign ministers during this visit on the sidelines of UN Security Council Open Debate.

These include China, Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Cuba, Czech Republic, Portugal, Columbia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Panama , Cambodia and Uruguay.

Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue, stating that the country will not show any flexibility regarding the Abraham Accords until an independent Palestinian state is recognised.

Speaking to journalists in Washington, the deputy prime minister dismissed speculation surrounding Pakistan’s possible participation in the Abraham Accords, saying rumours were circulating but Pakistan’s position remained clear and unchanged.

Ishaq Dar said Pakistan firmly believes that a Palestinian state must be recognised on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, before any consideration can be given to the Abraham Accords.

He stressed that until the Palestinian people receive their legitimate rights and statehood, Pakistan will maintain its longstanding policy and will not alter its position on the matter.

The foreign minister also highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and dialogue at the international level, saying the country has played a positive part in facilitating contacts between the United States and Iran.
