RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Pakistan on Saturday defeated Australia by five wickets in the first One Day International (ODI) to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 200 runs in 44.1 overs. Matt Renshaw top-scored with 61 runs, while Matthew Short contributed 55.

Alex Carey scored 19 runs for Australia, captain Josh Inglis made 13, Nathan Ellis added 8, and Oliver Peake chipped in with 7 runs.

Three Australian batters were dismissed without scoring.

For Pakistan, debutant Arafat Minhas starred with the ball, claiming five wickets.

Abrar Ahmed took two wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Salman Ali Agha picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Pakistan produced a solid batting performance to chase down the 201-run target in 42.3 overs, losing five wickets.

Babar Azam led the chase with 69 runs, while Mohammad Ghazi Ghori scored 65.

Sahibzada Farhan contributed 28 runs, and Moaz Sadaqat added 8.

With the victory, Pakistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

The second ODI will be played on June 2 at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
