LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Information Minister Afzma Bukhari has announced that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a cash reward of Rs10,000 each for Suthra Punjab workers in recognition of their performance during the Eid cleanliness operation carried out across the province.
In a statement, Azma Bukhari said the Punjab government successfully completed the large-scale Eid sanitation campaign. She stated that Suthra Punjab workers disposed of 360,000 tonnes of animal waste during the three days of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to the minister, more than 184,000 workers participated in the operation, supported by 60,000 vehicles deployed under the Suthra Punjab initiative. She said the operation was conducted across the province to ensure timely collection and disposal of sacrificial animal remains.
Azma Bukhari said vehicles involved in the waste collection operation travelled a combined distance of six million kilometres. She added that cleanliness activities continued without interruption from Lahore to Attock and from Multan to Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad.
To protect residents from foul odours and maintain hygienic conditions, authorities used rose water, phenyl and lime during the operation. The minister said these measures helped improve the environment in areas where sacrificial animals were processed.
She further stated that Maryam Nawaz closely monitored the sanitation campaign throughout the Eid holidays. In appreciation of the workers' efforts and dedication, the chief minister announced a reward of Rs10,000 for each Suthra Punjab worker involved in the operation.
The minister also said that around 4,000 roads across Punjab were washed with rose water as part of the special cleanliness measures undertaken during Eid.
Azma Bukhari added that citizens were expressing satisfaction over the successful completion of the sanitation campaign. She noted that Suthra Punjab teams also cleaned 60,000 mosques, imambargahs and Eid prayer grounds across the province.
She further claimed that the Suthra Punjab helpline achieved a 100 percent complaint resolution rate during the operation, ensuring prompt response to public concerns and helping maintain cleanliness standards throughout the Eid holidays.
