CM Maryam orders authorities to remain on high alert during rainy season

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz orders high alert amid heavy rains, directing WASA monitoring, drainage of rainwater, safety measures, and full preparedness to protect lives and property.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed strict supervision and effective monitoring of WASA operations to ensure the immediate drainage of rainwater during heavy rainfall.

She instructed all relevant departments across the province to remain on high alert during stormy weather and emphasized continuous monitoring of stormwater drains and canals. Teams from the irrigation department have been ordered to keep a close watch on water flow in canals to prevent urban flooding.

The chief minister also instructed authorities to ensure that all manhole covers in both urban and rural areas remain secure and directed precautionary measures at construction sites to prevent accidents.

Special attention is to be given to structurally weak buildings, and traffic management and public guidance are to be maintained throughout the province.

District administrations have been asked to issue alerts for potential roof collapses, while Safe City Authority and CTO teams are to remain fully alert to maintain traffic flow on major roads and highways.

Maryam Nawaz stressed that all field teams must be fully prepared, and all departments must remain active and vigilant to protect the lives and property of citizens during the rainy season.
