Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington for talks with Marco Rubio on Pakistan-US relations and regional issues after holding a meeting with China’s foreign minister

WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington on an official visit where he is scheduled to hold an important meeting with Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

Upon his arrival in the US capital, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh along with senior diplomatic officials received the deputy prime minister and foreign minister.

According to diplomatic sources, Ishaq Dar will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio later today, during which both sides are expected to discuss Pakistan-US bilateral relations, regional affairs, and matters of mutual interest.

The visit comes as high-level contacts between Pakistan and the United States continue on important diplomatic and strategic issues.

Officials said the meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation between the two countries and exchanging views on the evolving regional situation.

After completing his official engagements in Washington, Ishaq Dar is expected to depart for Islamabad later the same day.

Earlier, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister held a meeting with Wang Yi in New York City, where the two leaders discussed regional peace, multilateral cooperation, and the promotion of a rules-based international order.

Both sides also agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region through diplomatic engagement and cooperation.
