RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The Inter-Services Public Relations has paid tribute to the unmatched sacrifices and contributions of Pakistani peacekeepers serving in United Nations peacekeeping missions across the world on the occasion of International Day of UN Peacekeepers 2026.
In a statement issued on the global observance of Peacekeepers Day, the military’s media wing saluted Pakistan’s “Blue Helmets” for their dedicated services in maintaining international peace and stability under the UN flag.
According to ISPR, more than 237,000 Pakistani personnel have served in UN peacekeeping missions since 1960, reflecting Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to global peace efforts.
The statement said that 183 Pakistani peacekeepers embraced martyrdom while performing their duties in various conflict-hit regions during UN peace operations.
ISPR further stated that Pakistani peacekeeping contingents are currently serving in different missions, including in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic.
According to the military’s media wing, Pakistani Blue Helmets are not only participating in military operations but are also playing an active role in humanitarian assistance and relief activities in affected regions.
The statement noted that peacekeeping forces in modern conflict environments are facing new and evolving challenges, including cyber threats, digital risks, and climate-related emergencies.
Referring to the 2026 theme “Invest in Peace,” ISPR emphasized that collective global investment in peace has become essential to ensuring international stability and protecting vulnerable populations.
ISPR stated that Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace, stability, and humanitarian service will continue to remain significant, adding that the country remains fully committed to strengthening international peace efforts under the UN flag.
