NEW YORK (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is currently visiting New York, met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi for detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments and broader global diplomatic coordination.
The meeting underscored continued engagement between Pakistan and China on issues of peace, stability and multilateral cooperation.
The two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments, with particular focus on Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue and diplomacy aimed at promoting sustained peace and stability in the region and beyond. Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role, reaffirming support for its engagement in regional peace initiatives.
The deputy prime minister’s visit to New York is taking place at the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in connection with the UN Security Council Open Debate titled “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centred International System,” held on 26 May under China’s Presidency of the Council.
He also participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends on Global Governance on 28 May 2026, themed “Reforming and Improving Global Governance, Working Together to Address Global Challenges,” chaired by Wang Yi. The engagements highlighted growing coordination on multilateral platforms and shared priorities in global governance reform.
Both sides reflected on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, noting that the milestone was marked through high-level exchanges, commemorative activities and coordinated diplomatic engagement. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the depth of cooperation across political, economic and strategic domains.

Both sides noted the importance of continued institutional linkages, including Party-to-Party mechanisms and CPEC consultation platforms.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the One-China principle, while China reaffirmed its continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and development priorities, including assistance during economic stabilisation efforts.
The two foreign ministers agreed to further strengthen strategic communication and deepen all-dimensional cooperation under the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Emphasis was placed on enhancing coordination in international forums, promoting multilateralism, mutual respect and a rules-based international order, while advancing a closer community with a shared future.
