Section 144 enforced on Mall Road as Murree sees massive Eid tourist rush

Updated on:

Thousands of tourists head to Murree during Eidul Azha holidays as authorities tighten vehicle checks and deploy over 200 traffic personnel.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Murree witnessed a sharp increase in tourist activity on the second day of Eidul Azha as thousands of visitors headed to the hill station to enjoy the pleasant weather and festive holidays.

Families gathered across the scenic resort town for barbecues and picnics, while crowded streets and public spots reflected the peak holiday rush.

Authorities imposed Section 144 on Mall Road, allowing entry only to families in an effort to manage crowds and maintain public order during the busy Eid period.

Strict security and traffic monitoring continued at Murree’s entry points, where officials carried out detailed inspections of vehicles before allowing tourists to proceed towards Mall Road and other central areas.

The restrictions, however, triggered criticism from local traders and business owners, who protested against the continued ban on bachelors entering the area. Traders said repeated limitations during major holiday periods were severely affecting businesses and reducing customer footfall during one of the busiest tourism seasons of the year.

Officials said more than 200 traffic police personnel had been deployed across Murree during the Eid holidays to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion on major roads leading to the hill station.

Murree City Traffic Police also introduced special traffic management arrangements to cope with the surge in visitors, as heavy inflows of vehicles continued throughout the Eid celebrations.
