(Web Desk) - Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country while warning that intense heat is likely to persist in most major cities.
According to the Met Office, most districts of Punjab are expected to remain extremely hot. However, rain is likely at isolated places in Lahore, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Narowal and surrounding areas.
In Islamabad and nearby areas, weather is expected to remain very hot during the day, while strong winds and thunderstorms with rain are likely during the night.
Meanwhile, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience hot and dry weather, with severe heat likely in southern districts. However, rain may occur at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar and Malakand.
On the other hand, a severe heatwave is expected to continue across most districts of Sindh, while weather in most parts of Balochistan is likely to remain hot and dry.
Weather experts advised citizens to take precautionary measures during the ongoing heatwave, warning that extreme temperatures could have direct impacts on human health.
