LAHORE/ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The faithful continued the tradition the tradition of animal sacrifice across Pakistan on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha on Thursday following the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). The ritual of sacrifice will continue until midday tomorrow.
Family gatherings, festive meals, outings and recreational activities also remained part of Eid celebrations on the second day.
Those who hosted guests on the first day of Eid will turn into guests themselves today, while women took charge of kitchens and prepare a variety of traditional and modern dishes, including biryani, tikka, boti, seekh kebabs, hunter beef, mutton sajji, qorma, karahi and koftas for visiting relatives and friends.
On the first day of Eid, large numbers of people performed animal sacrifices and later distributed meat among relatives, neighbours and the underprivileged.
Many families also arranged barbecue gatherings, while women prepared spicy delicacies, especially liver dishes, to entertain family members and guests at home.
Meanwhile, health experts advised people to exercise moderation while enjoying Eid foods.
Doctors especially urged patients suffering from diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and heart diseases to be careful with their diet and avoid excessive consumption of liver, kidneys, brain and trotters, as well as oily and heavily spiced foods.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Met Office forecast hot weather in Punjab and Sindh on Thursday today, with maximum temperature reaching above 45.
