Will Pakistan face extreme heat in next 24 hours as Met Office issues forecast?

Pakistan faces intense heatwave with temperatures reaching 49°C, while some northern areas receive rain with thunderstorms and strong winds.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the next 24 hours, predicting hot and dry conditions in most parts of the country.

According to the report, most regions will continue to experience dry weather, while central and southern areas are expected to remain severely hot during the daytime.

It added that today’s weather remained dry in most parts of the country. However, in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy conditions were observed, along with rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms at a few places.

Rainfall was recorded in several areas, including 5 mm in Gupis, 4 mm in Sost, 3 mm in Chilas, 1 mm in Skardu and Bagrote, 9 mm in Muzaffarabad Airport, 8 mm in Muzaffarabad city, 9 mm in Patan, 5 mm in Kalam and Drosh, 3 mm in Mirkhani, and 1 mm in Chakwal.

The report stated that today’s highest temperature reached 49°C in Jacobabad, while Dadu, Larkana, and Padidan recorded 48°C.

The department further noted temperatures of 38°C in Islamabad, 47°C in Sibbi, 44°C in Nokundi, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Dera Ghazi Khan, 41°C in Lahore, 35°C in Karachi, 40°C in Peshawar, and 42°C in Dera Ismail Khan.
