Karachi court seeks explanation over video link request for Anmol alias Pinky

Updated on:

Karachi court questioned a request for Anmol alias Pinky’s video link appearance in a high-profile drug trafficking case.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - An application has been filed in the City Court seeking permission for the video link appearance of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky by the superintendent of the women’s jail.

The judicial magistrate has summoned the women’s jail superintendent and directed her to appear before the court on June 1 to explain why the request was submitted.

In its written order, the court questioned the need for such a request when the trial has not yet begun. The superintendent had requested permission for Anmol alias Pinky to attend court proceedings through video link instead of appearing in person.

The applicant argued that the accused’s physical appearance at the City Court could create a potential law and order situation due to the sensitive nature of the case and heightened public attention.

Anmol alias Pinky was arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking activities during a crackdown by law enforcement agencies in Karachi. The case drew significant media attention after authorities claimed to have recovered narcotics and linked the accused to a wider drug supply network operating in different parts of the city. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify other suspected members associated with the alleged network.

The court is expected to review the superintendent’s explanation before deciding on the request for future hearings.
