President Zardari approves environmental, criminal law reforms

President Asif Ali Zardari approved key bills including plastic book cover ban and criminal law amendments, and extended greetings to Jordan on its Independence Day

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has approved several important legislative bills and official matters, according to the President House spokesperson.

On May 21, 2026, the president signed multiple key decisions, including the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers Bill 2026, aimed at promoting environmental protection. The bill was presented by Senator Sherry Rehman.

He also approved the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill 2026. In addition, the president granted approval for the Governor of Sindh’s foreign leave from May 21 to June 3, 2026.

Separately, on May 25, 2026, President Zardari extended greetings to King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and the people of Jordan on their Independence Day.

In his message, the president said Pakistan and Jordan enjoy relations based on mutual respect, trust, and shared values, and both countries maintain close coordination on regional and global issues.

He also termed King Abdullah II’s November 2025 visit to Pakistan a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties, and conveyed best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Jordan.
