Banks to remain open on Saturday, Sunday for tax collection

SBP announces select banks open May 23-24 for timely tax and duty payments; online channels remain available, and branches stay open until NIFT clears govt transactions.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that select commercial bank branches across the country will remain open on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate taxpayers in making timely government duty and tax payments.

According to a notification issued by SBP’s External Communications Department, the move comes at the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Branches of all commercial banks will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 23 and 24, 2026.

The central bank has also instructed all banks to keep relevant branches open until special clearing of government transactions through NIFT is completed.

In addition, taxpayers are assured uninterrupted access to all online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to ensure smooth processing of online tax submissions.
