QUETTA (Dunya News) - Rescue teams successfully completed an operation in Balochistan’s Dukki district after a coal mine collapse trapped six miners deep underground, with five workers rescued alive while one miner lost his life.
According to the District Inspector of Mines, the incident occurred late last night when a mound of earth collapsed inside a coal mine, trapping six miners working underground.
Rescue efforts were launched immediately after the incident was reported. After nearly 14 hours of continuous efforts, rescue teams managed to pull one miner out alive from the collapsed section of the mine.
Additional rescue personnel were later called in to accelerate the operation, and after nearly 20 hours, four more miners were safely rescued from the site.
Authorities confirmed that during the final phase of the operation, the body of the sixth miner was recovered, after which the rescue mission was officially concluded.
Officials said the miners had been working nearly 3,000 feet deep inside the coal mine when the collapse occurred.
