Iran says UN Charter doesn't permit attacks on sovereign states

In a message addressed to the German president, Esmaeil Baghaei said that the US-Israeli attack carried out in February constituted a clear act of aggression

TEHRAN (Dunya News) - The spokesperson of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baghaei said that the United Nations Charter does not grant the right to attack a sovereign country.

In a message addressed to the German president, he said that the US-Israeli attack carried out in February constituted a clear act of aggression.

Baghaei stated that the US-Israeli strike on Iran was an open violation of the UN Charter.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson further said the United States does not have the authority to use force based on unilateral decisions.

He urged countries to respect the UN Charter and international law not to remain silent over the issue.

Meanwhile, a Qatari negotiating team arrived in Tehran on Friday in coordination with United States to help secure a deal to end the war with ⁠Iran and resolve outstanding issues, a source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Friday.

Doha, which has worked as a mediator in the Gaza ⁠war and other areas of international tensions, had till now distanced itself from ⁠playing a mediation role in the Iran war after it ⁠came under attack from Iranian missiles and ⁠drones during the latest conflict.
