Meta said it aims to build smaller, faster, and more AI-focused teams to improve efficiency

(Web Desk) - Tech giant Meta has decided to cut around 10 per cent of its workforce as the company accelerates its shift towards artificial intelligence-focused operations, according to international media reports.

Meta has recently begun restructuring teams under a new AI-driven strategy, moving employees towards artificial intelligence tools and projects as part of a broader organisational overhaul.

Meta said it aims to build smaller, faster, and more AI-focused teams to improve efficiency and speed up decision-making processes across the company.

Reports said nearly 8,000 employees have been informed about job cuts, while staff across the organisation were briefed on the restructuring plan. Cybersecurity and content design departments are reportedly among the hardest-hit areas.

At the same time, Meta has already reassigned around 7,000 employees to AI-related teams as part of its long-term technology expansion strategy.

The company is also planning to invest more than $100 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure this year to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI sector.

Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg told employees in an internal message that no further large-scale layoffs are currently expected companywide, though limited cuts in specific departments may still take place.
