ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The official launch of the Bunyan-un-Marsoos cricket match was announced on Wednesday, with organisers describing the event as a tribute to the “Battle of Truth” and a commemorative celebration marking its first anniversary.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Pakistan Television Corporation headquarters, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said the event aimed to honour the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces while promoting patriotism, unity and national harmony through sports.
He thanked Lahore Qalandars, Agha Shiraz and the Shahid Afridi Foundation for supporting the initiative.
Rana Mashhood highlighted the success of the Prime Minister Talent Hunt Programme, saying more than 300,000 young athletes from across Pakistan had participated, with several now playing in the Pakistan Super League.
He announced that an exhibition match between the Celebrities XI and Prime Minister Youth Programme XI would be played on June 3 at the Lahore Qalandars High Performance Centre in Capital Smart City, Islamabad, beginning at 6pm. Entertainment activities and celebrations will also be organised after the match.
Addressing the media, Agha Shiraz described the initiative as a meaningful effort to pay tribute to national achievements through sports and entertainment. He said the event reflected unity, patriotism and solidarity and hoped it would spread a positive message among the public.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi praised the initiative and suggested such events should also help former athletes and sports personalities facing financial difficulties. He urged authorities to support deserving cricketers, hockey players and media workers through the prime minister’s platform.
Representing Lahore Qalandars, Rana Atif appreciated the inclusion of the franchise in the initiative and praised the talent and enthusiasm shown by young participants during talent hunt programmes held across 28 cities.
Concluding the press conference, Rana Mashhood stressed the importance of empowering youth, strengthening national unity and encouraging positive activities. He also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for steering the country through difficult circumstances.
He said the Bunyan-un-Marsoos cricket match was not merely a sporting event but also a message of unity, patriotism and hope for the world.
