PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to outsource government schools across the province, following a similar move previously taken for public hospitals.

The provincial education department said that around 2,000 government primary schools will be outsourced to the private sector. The department has already approved the outsourcing plan for public schools across the province.

Officials added that so far 500 government schools have already been outsourced, while the provincial government will provide each school around Rs300,000 monthly to cover staff salaries and other operational expenses.

According to the education department, 233 schools in the winter zone areas have already been outsourced. Enrollment in these schools has reportedly improved by 89%, rising to 7,718 students compared to 4,086 before outsourcing.

Authorities further stated that the target is to increase enrollment from 40 students per school to 180 within one year, and contracts will be terminated if performance targets are not met.
