LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court heard a contempt of court petition against District Police Officer Kasur, which was later disposed of in light of the report submitted before the court.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum presided over the hearing, while DPO Kasur Aftab Phulrawan appeared before the court in compliance with judicial orders.
During the proceedings, the chief justice questioned the DPO over the submission of an incomplete report and asked whether such incomplete reports were routinely submitted before the court.
Justice Aalia Neelum remarked that the report lacked proper references, dates and other necessary details, adding that courts do not function merely on assumptions or concerns.
She further observed that the report submitted by the DPO was incomplete and failed to meet required legal standards.
At this point, Assistant Advocate General Waqas informed the court that the response had been submitted in haste, due to which the letter related to disposal of the petition could not be attached with the report.
DPO Kasur Aftab Phulrawan informed the court that the relevant petition had already been decided on August 11, 2020.
Later, the DPO apologized before the court and assured that greater care would be exercised in future submissions, after which the court disposed of the petition.
