PM expresses grief over martyrdom of policemen in firing on polio team in Bajaur

Prime Minister directed to complete the inquiry into the firing incident at the earliest, identify those responsible and bring the culprits to justice.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed grief over the martyrdom of two policemen, Qadir and Aziz, in the firing on a polio team during an anti-polio campaign in Tabbai and Dag Qila areas of Salarzai in Bajaur district.

In a statement, while condemning the incident, he prayed for the policemen martyred in the blast and expressed his condolences to their families. The policemen were on a security duty to protect the anti-polio teams.

“The government will continue the polio eradication campaign in the country in a full-fledged manner,” he said, adding, “The government is unwaveringly determined to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism.”

He said, “All law enforcement agencies and the public have sacrificed their precious lives in the fight against terrorism.”

He directed to complete the inquiry into the firing incident at the earliest, identify those responsible and bring the culprits to justice.
