GCUF holds expo to foster academia-industry partnerships

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) hosted the two-day mega event “Lyallpur Academia Industry Nexus and Expo (LAIN 2026)” at the Quaid-i-Azam Auditorium, bringing together academia, industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators and the business community on a single platform to strengthen collaboration for sustainable economic and social growth.

The event was jointly organized by the Directorate of Industrial Linkages, the Business Incubation Center, the Department of Food Science and Lyallpur Business School to build meaningful partnerships between academia and industry in line with the demands of the modern world and rapid technological advancement.

LAIN 2026 provided a vibrant platform where innovative ideas converged with industrial vision, researchers and entrepreneurs engaged with the business community, and students explored emerging opportunities in startups, innovation and modern technologies.

The two-day expo featured industrial exhibitions, panel discussions, thematic symposiums, business networking sessions, startup and innovation opportunities, and research commercialization forums. Various industrial, food and manufacturing stalls were also set up for students and the general public to showcase products, services and technological advancements.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam, while addressing the participants, described LAIN 2026 as a historic initiative for Faisalabad that would help bridge the gap between educational institutions and the industrial sector while promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, research, commercialization and economic progress.

He said universities must play a leading role in aligning academic research with industrial needs to produce practical solutions for societal and economic development.

The participants stressed that strong collaboration between academia and industry was essential to equip students with the skills required to meet contemporary market demands and global challenges.

The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the efforts of the management of Lyallpur Academia Industry Nexus, particularly Prof Dr Umair Arshad and his team, for successfully organizing the large-scale event.

Vice chancellors of various universities, industrialists, innovators, policymakers, researchers, members of chambers of commerce, syndicate members and representatives from different sectors attended the event and praised GCUF’s initiative aimed at promoting stronger industrial-academic partnerships in Pakistan.
