Authorities arrested top Sindhudesh militant Abdul Jabbar Sarki in Karachi, recovering explosives and weapons; he had planned attacks on sensitive sites and is now in CTD custody.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Law enforcement authorities have arrested highly wanted terrorist Abdul Jabbar Sarki, son of Ghulam Rasool, affiliated with the banned Sindhudesh group.

A joint operation by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and CTD Police, based on intelligence, intercepted Sarki near a Rangers check post on Hub River Road, Rais Goth, while he was traveling from Quetta to Karachi.

Weapons, detonators, ball bearings, and explosive material were recovered from his possession, officials said.

Abdul Jabbar Sarki joined the group of SRA commander Sajad Shah in 2020. Sajad Shah and his associates have been involved in several sabotage and terrorist operations in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

In June 2020, Sarki and an accomplice attacked a Rangers post near the National Highway, resulting in injuries to two civilians and partial damage to the checkpoint. He had also conducted reconnaissance for terrorist activity at the Independence Stall in Gulshan-e-Hadeed ahead of August 14 celebrations.

Sarki was listed as a top-priority target in the CTD Red Book and was reportedly in contact with SRA commander Sajad Shah abroad.

He was planning terrorist attacks on sensitive locations in Karachi along with his associates. The suspect, along with seized weapons and explosives, has been handed over to CTD Police for further legal proceedings.
