(Web Desk) – Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas marked a major milestone on the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh.
At Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Abbas dismissed Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto caught by the wicketkeeper, completing 100 Test wickets on foreign soil.
Earlier in the innings, Abbas had sent back Bangladesh openers Mahmudullah and Tanzid Hasan, and with his third wicket, he became Pakistan’s sixth fast bowler to take 100 overseas Test wickets.
The others on this elite list include Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Mohammad Amir, and Umar Gul.
The 36-year-old Abbas began his Test career in 2017 and has so far taken 109 wickets in 51 innings, with only nine of those wickets on home soil. The remainder were achieved abroad.
In the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh, Abbas gave Pakistan a strong start by claiming Mahmudullah’s wicket on just the second delivery of the match, followed by Tanzid Hasan, breaking Bangladesh’s initial resistance early on.
