PM Shehbaz meets Chinese business delegation, pledges digital economic ties

A Chinese business delegation met PM Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, discussing digital economy investment, cooperation, and expansion of Pakistan-China economic ties.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met a high-level 11-member Chinese business delegation led by IBI Beijing United Technology founder, president and controlling shareholder Qian Xiaojun at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.

Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister said that Pakistan and China share long-standing and historic relations. He also praised China’s remarkable development under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and said he looks forward to his upcoming visit to China later this month.

The prime minister appreciated IBI Group’s decision to establish its digital economy headquarters in Pakistan and expressed satisfaction over the growing business-to-business cooperation between the two countries.

He said it is encouraging that IBI Digital will contribute to cooperation in the economy, promotion of investment and industrial collaboration between Pakistan and China. Expressing confidence in Pakistan’s economy, Qian Xiaojun said the company is keen to support digital reforms in Pakistan’s economic sector. He added that the establishment of a digital economy headquarters in Pakistan would prove highly beneficial and create opportunities by providing access to Chinese markets for Pakistan’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The delegation’s visit comes as a continuation of the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference held during the prime minister’s visit to Beijing in September 2025

PM Shehbaz calls for concerted efforts to transform Pakistan into an economic power.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, and other senior officials.
