Pakistan selects 35 players for FIH Pro Hockey League trials

Pakistan Hockey Federation announces 35-player shortlist for FIH Pro League; final team after May 19-20 trials. Team will face Spain, Belgium, England, and India next.

(Dunya News) – The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced a 35-player shortlist for the upcoming FIH Pro Hockey League.

The final team will be decided after trials scheduled on May 19 and 20.

Among the shortlisted players, goalkeepers include Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Ali Raza, Faizan Janjua, and Waqar.

The defenders are Sufyan Khan, Muhammad Abdullah, Arshad Liaquat, Imad Shakeel Butt, Moeen Shakeel, Hamad Anjum, Nadeem Khan, Ali Hamza, Umar Mustafa, Abubakar, Abdul Manan, Arbaaz, Muhammad Ahsan Nadeem, Muhammad Imad, and Rana Waleed.

The strikers on the shortlist are Ahmed Nadeem, Ghazanfar, Afraz Khan, Zakaria Hayat, Rana Waheed, Abdul Rehman, Hanan Shahid, Adil Latif, Basharat Ali, Ali Murtaza, Umair Sattar, Bilal, Abuzar, Abdullah Yusuf, Hamza Fayyaz, and Abdul Wahab.

The selection committee overseeing the trials includes chairman and Olympian Samiullah Khan, along with Olympians Naeem Akhtar, Nasir Ali, Manzoor Hassan, Kashif Jawad, and Dr. Atif Bashir.

Pakistan’s national team will next compete in the FIH Pro Hockey League against Spain and Belgium, before taking on England and India in subsequent fixtures.
