Pakistan, US vow to boost security and counterterror cooperation

Pakistan and the US agreed to enhance cooperation in security, counterterrorism and narcotics control during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and US officials

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting in Islamabad with US Deputy Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and the evolving situation in the Middle East.

The meeting was also attended by US Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and the Federal Interior Secretary. Key areas of discussion included enhancing cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and narcotics control.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan-US relations had further strengthened during the tenure of President Donald Trump, adding that ties between the two countries are based on mutual trust and cooperation.

He further stated that Pakistan has ensured foolproof security for American companies working on the Reko Diq project and expressed hope for the early launch of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States.

Naqvi also expressed optimism for a peaceful and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

US Deputy Secretary of State Paul Kapur appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
