MEXICO CITY (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s street children football team has qualified for the semifinals of the Street Child World Cup 2026 and will now face Brazil for a place in the final.
Competing in the under-16 category of the tournament being held in Mexico among 30 countries, the Pakistan team secured semifinal qualification after winning all four of its matches.
Pakistan defeated Indonesia, hosts Mexico, Russia, and Wales during the group stage of the competition. Separate events for boys and girls are also being held during the tournament.
The Street Child World Cup is a global youth-led movement aimed at promoting the rights, protection, and recognition of street-connected children around the world.
Pakistan’s participation in the event is being managed by Muslim Hands, an organisation dedicated to education and social change through sports. The Pakistani team is also scheduled to participate in the United Nations General Assembly.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan won the silver medal after finishing runners-up at the Street Child Football World Cup 2022 held in Qatar.
The Pakistan street children squad includes Abdullah, Mubashir Shah, Muhammad Hammad, Nadeem Hussain, Muhammad Mustafa, Muhammad Isa, Shahid Anjum, Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Bilal, and Muhammad Ibrahim.
