Pakistan Women overpower Zimbabwe again to seal unassailable T20 series lead

Updated on:

Pakistan Women secured a decisive T20 series lead after defeating Zimbabwe Women by 67 runs in Karachi, powered by an unbeaten 79 from Iman Fatima.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Women on Thursday continued their dominant run against Zimbabwe Women with a convincing 67-run victory in the second T20 international in Karachi, taking an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

After producing a one-sided display in the opening fixture, Pakistan followed it with another commanding performance at the National Cricket Stadium, Karachi, strengthening their hold over the visitors ahead of the final match.

Chasing a competitive target of 171, Zimbabwe struggled to build momentum and finished on 103 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Pakistan’s disciplined bowling effort and early pressure left the visitors with too much to do as wickets fell at regular intervals during the chase.

Earlier, Pakistan Women won the toss and elected to bat first, putting together a strong total of 170 for 4 in their 20 overs.

The innings was built around a superb unbeaten knock from Iman Fatima, who anchored the batting line-up with an impressive 79 not out. Her innings proved to be the standout performance of the match as she guided Pakistan to a formidable score and ensured the hosts maintained control throughout the innings.

Muneeba Ali added valuable support with a steady 36, helping Pakistan establish a solid platform. Natalia Pervaiz chipped in with 24 runs, while Gul Feroza scored 9. Ayesha Zafar managed 4 and Iram Javed added 5 as Pakistan kept the scoreboard moving despite losing wickets at intervals.

Pakistan's batting approach once again reflected confidence and aggression, allowing the side to maintain pressure on Zimbabwe from the start. The hosts accelerated effectively through the middle and closing stages to push the total beyond the 170-run mark.

Zimbabwe, in reply, never appeared settled in the chase. Pakistan's bowlers maintained tight lines and prevented partnerships from developing, making the required run rate increasingly difficult to manage.

The result continued Pakistan Women’s complete control in the series. In the opening T20 match, Pakistan had produced an emphatic 153-run victory over Zimbabwe in a heavily one-sided contest.

With two victories in as many matches, Pakistan now hold a decisive advantage in the three-match series and have already secured the contest before the final encounter. The third and final T20 international is scheduled to be played tomorrow, with Pakistan looking to complete a clean sweep and Zimbabwe aiming to avoid a series whitewash.
