BEIJING (Dunya News) - US President Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit the White House in September, the foreign media reported.

The report said the US president is currently in Beijing on an important visit to China.

During the trip, Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit the United States on September 24.

He also extended the invitation to China’s first lady.

It is worth noting that President Trump held a significant meeting with Xi Jinping at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, where the two leaders shook hands.

Speaking on the occasion, Xi Jinping said that China and the United States should become partners rather than rivals, and welcomed the American delegation to China.

The Chinese president also said that the Taiwan issue remains the most important matter in China-US relations.

He warned that if the Taiwan issue is not handled properly, tensions between Washington and Beijing could escalate.

Addressing a ceremony in Beijing, Donald Trump said it was “a very good day” and described Xi Jinping as “a very good friend.”

During delegation-level talks with Xi, Trump said relations between the two countries had always remained positive.

He added that whenever difficulties arose, both sides worked together to resolve them quickly, saying many people do not realize how rapidly the two nations have addressed issues in the past.
