LAHORE (Dunya News) - Authorities in Lahore have reduced traffic fines and introduced an updated version of the traffic enforcement application, aiming to improve compliance and streamline enforcement.
Under the revised system, commercial vehicles will now also be issued challan tickets for violations, expanding enforcement across all vehicle categories.
Officials said fines for several violations — including mobile phone use while driving, lane discipline breaches, disruption of traffic flow and use of pressure horns — have been set at Rs1,000.
Penalties for riding motorcycles without helmets, one-way violations and driving without a license remain at Rs2,000. For car drivers, lane violations will result in a Rs2,000 fine, while jumping a traffic signal will incur a Rs3,000 penalty.
Stricter penalties apply to commercial drivers, with fines of up to Rs5,000 for driving without a license or violating traffic signals.
Additionally, fines for emitting smoke have been set at Rs2,000 for motorcycles and rickshaws, Rs3,000 for cars, and Rs5,000 for commercial vehicles.
The updated app is expected to enhance monitoring and transparency, while the revised fine structure aims to encourage safer driving practices across the city.
