Punjab to mark 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties

Punjab government will hold special events on May 21 and 25 to celebrate 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties and expand cooperation in multiple sectors.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations in a grand manner.

Special ceremonies will be held on May 21 and May 25 to mark the completion of 75 years of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China.

Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed these views during a meeting with Chinese Consul General Sun Yan in Lahore, where she warmly welcomed the Chinese diplomatic delegation.

Marriyum Aurangzeb conveyed good wishes from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to the Chinese leadership and people, while both sides reviewed cooperation in various sectors and discussed possibilities for future projects.

She said a three-day exhibition will begin on May 21 to commemorate the anniversary, while a major ceremony will be organised on May 25 as part of the celebrations.

The Punjab minister said China’s development experiences are being utilized for Punjab’s progress, adding that the 75 years of diplomatic relations reflect the enduring friendship between the two countries.

She further stated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor remains a key chapter of Pakistan-China friendship and acknowledged the role of Chinese President Xi Jinping and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in strengthening bilateral ties.

Marriyum Aurangzeb also said that cooperation between China’s Zhejiang province and Punjab would help boost bilateral trade, while the Punjab government is working with China on tourism promotion and ecosystem restoration projects.
