Tabu said Bollywood focuses more on actresses’ age than talent, highlighting challenges for women in the industry. She shared views in an interview and spoke about her upcoming film projects.

MUMBAI (Dunya News) - Renowned Indian actress Tabu has spoken about the challenges faced by women in Bollywood and the strong impact of age on actresses’ careers in the industry.

Known for her powerful performances, the 54-year-old actress said in a recent interview that in Bollywood, more focus is placed on an actress’s age rather than her talent and abilities.

Tabu said people are often more concerned about her age than she is herself, adding that others try to “hold a mirror” to her age as if she is unaware of it. She remarked that ageing is a natural process that happens gradually, not overnight.

She further said that women in the industry are often advised to be diplomatic in conversations and interactions.

The actress added that she is often told not to give direct reasons if she does not want to take up a film role, and instead to use scheduling excuses, but she does not follow this practice and prefers honesty if she does not like a story.

Tabu also mentioned that her recent film “Bhoot Bangla” has already been released, and she is preparing for upcoming projects including shooting for Naga Chaitanya Akkineni’s 100th film “King100”.

She added that the film reflects struggles faced by women in Bollywood and the strict standards imposed on them within the industry.
