Pakistan Army major among five martyred during anti-terror operation in Balochistan's Barkhan district

Five Pakistan security personnel, including a major, were martyred while seven terrorists were killed during a sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Barkhan district.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Pakistan Army troops and Frontier Corps Balochistan personnel killed seven terrorists during a sanitisation operation in the Nosham area of Barkhan district on Tuesday morning, while a major and four soldiers embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the operation was launched on Wednesday against militants linked to Indian-backed Fitna Al Hindustan. Security forces located a group of terrorists in the area and engaged them in a fierce gun battle that resulted in the killing of seven militants. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the site following the operation.

Among the security personnel martyred was Major Tauseef Ahmed Bhatti, 31, a resident of Pakpattan district, who was leading troops from the front during the operation. The other fallen soldiers were identified as Naik Fida Hussain, 36, from Sukkur district; Sepoy Zakir Hussain, 32, from Skardu district; Sepoy Suhail Ahmed, 21, from Khanewal district; and Sepoy Muhammad Ayaz, 24, from Rahim Yar Khan district.

The ISPR described the martyred personnel as “brave sons of soil” who sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorism and protecting the country.

According to the military’s media wing, sanitisation operations were continuing in nearby areas to eliminate any remaining militants hiding in the region.

Barkhan district, situated in northeastern Balochistan, has remained a focus of counter-terror operations amid continued militant activity in the province. Security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations in recent months targeting groups involved in attacks on civilians, law enforcement personnel and public infrastructure.

ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue the nationwide counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

The statement added that operations against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism would continue across the country with full force as part of broader efforts to dismantle militant networks and restore security in affected areas.
