PSX drops over 1,000 points as bearish trend dominates trading

Pakistan Stock Exchange falls over 1,000 points amid bearish trend while Asian markets show mixed gains with Japan, Korea and Thailand indices posting increases

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a bearish trend during trading on the third business day of the week, with a sharp decline recorded at the opening of the session.

The benchmark KSE-100 index fell by more than 1,000 points, bringing the index down to 167,806 points.

It is worth noting that on the previous trading day, the market had already closed lower, with the index dropping by 1,590 points to settle at 168,916 points.

Meanwhile, mixed trends were observed in Asian stock markets, where several indices showed gains.

According to news agencies, South Korea’s KOSPI index rose by 2.29 percent, while Thailand’s SET index increased by 2.13 percent. Japan’s Nikkei index also posted a gain of 0.79 percent.

In addition, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index recorded a 0.26 percent increase, while China’s Shanghai Composite index also showed a slight upward movement.
