PM Shehbaz hails citizen martyred while foiling suicide attack in Jand

The premier said such fearless and courageous citizens are a true symbol of the nation’s resolve against terrorism

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid tribute to the brave civilian, Liaqat, who embraced martyrdom while thwarting a major terrorist attack near Khushal Garh Bridge in the interprovincial area between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement, the prime minister said Liaqat acted responsibly by stopping a suspicious individual and asking for identification near Jand and Khushal Garh Bridge in Kohat district. During the encounter, the suspected terrorist detonated himself, resulting in Liaqat’s martyrdom.

Shehbaz Sharif said the timely courage and bravery shown by the martyr prevented a large-scale loss of life. He added that Liaqat’s supreme sacrifice and patriotism would always be remembered by the nation.

The premier said such fearless and courageous citizens are a true symbol of the nation’s resolve against terrorism, adding that Liaqat’s sacrifice would remain a beacon of inspiration for every Pakistani.

He reiterated that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the country’s security forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. The prime minister said the people of Pakistan had always defeated the malicious designs of enemies and would continue to overcome terrorism through national unity and solidarity.

Shehbaz Sharif also prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
