Pakistan players exit in second round of PSA World Squash Championship

Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan crash out in second round of PSA World Squash Championship after straight-game defeats to Egyptian and English opponents.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s campaign in the PSA World Squash Championship came to an early end as both national players were eliminated in the second round of the event.

According to reports, the tournament, featuring a prize pool of $71,000, is being held in Egypt, where Pakistan’s representatives failed to progress beyond the ابتدائی مراحل.

World No. 28 Noor Zaman, who is also the reigning World Under-23 champion, was defeated by Egypt’s World No. 8 Mohamed Zakaria in straight games.

Zakaria dominated the match, winning 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 to knock Noor Zaman out of the tournament after a one-sided contest.

In the other match, Pakistan’s World No. 46 Muhammad Ashab Irfan also suffered a straight-game defeat against England’s Nathan Lake.

Lake secured victory with scores of 11-3, 14-12 and 12-10, comfortably booking his place in the quarter-finals.

With both players exiting in the second round, Pakistan’s participation in the championship concluded without any player reaching the later stages.
