(Web Desk) - Pakistan opener Azan Awais marked a dream start to his Test career by scoring a century on debut during the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The left-handed batter resumed day three on 85 not out and reached his hundred in the 51st over by taking a single off Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana, bringing up a memorable milestone in front of an away crowd.
With this innings, the 21-year-old became the 14th Pakistani batter to score a century on Test debut, joining an elite group that includes legends such as Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, and Fawad Alam.
He is also only the third Pakistani batter to achieve the feat in away conditions, following Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam, who scored debut centuries in New Zealand and Sri Lanka respectively in 2009.
Azan’s innings of 103 came off 165 deliveries and included 14 boundaries before he was dismissed by experienced Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed shortly after reaching the milestone.

The left-handed batter, however, fell victim to experienced Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed 22 deliveries after notching up the triple figures and walked back after scoring 103 off 165 deliveries, studded with 14 fours.
