Provinces' share in NFC Award can't be reduced: Nisar Khuhro

He said there could be a debate in Parliament regarding the transfer of the Benazir Income Support Programme from the federal government to the provinces.

HYDERABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Khuhro has said NFC Award has constitutional protection; constitutionally, the share of provinces in NFC Award can be increased but not reduced.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the PPP leader said a new NFC Award should be issued for every five years. No new NFC Award has been issued since 2008. No meeting of the NFC Commission has been held yet, he added.

He said the NFC Commission has not yet come up with the idea of increasing the federal share by reducing the share of the provinces in the NFC Award. The provinces' position regarding giving a share to FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan from the NFC Award will be taken up in the NFC Commission itself, he said.

Nisar said the 28th Amendment is being discussed in the media, no draft has been released regarding the 28th Amendment, amendments may be made to the Constitution, but it is not a joke that amendments to the Constitution should be made every 15 days.

He said there could be a debate in Parliament regarding the transfer of the Benazir Income Support Programme from the federal government to the provinces.

“The increase in petrol prices will affect the poor people, and the relief provided by the government to the poor people is insufficient.

ISPR had made it clear that the political leadership makes decisions, and Pakistan defeated India in Marka-e-Haq.

There were two attacks on May 9. On May 9, one attack was carried out by a political party within Pakistan against the state of Pakistan.

The second attack was carried out by India, so Pakistan responded befittingly. Pakistan won on every front,” the PPP leader said.
