ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the nation and armed forces on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq (the battle of truth).
In his message issued from the federal capital, PM Shehbaz described Marka-e-Haq as a day of gratitude for the countless blessings and favours of Allah Almighty.
He said Pakistan’s brave armed forces inflicted a crushing defeat on the enemy, while the entire nation demonstrated unity, courage and resilience during a difficult time.
The prime minister said the nation salutes its martyrs, their families and veterans, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces stood like a steel wall in defence of the country.
He further said the Pakistan Armed Forces delivered a coordinated response across land, sea, air and cyber domains, establishing Pakistan as an invincible force.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the leadership, strategy and decisions of Field Marshal Asim Munir for the success of Marka-e-Haq.
He also commended Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and the Pakistan Air Force for their professionalism and operational excellence.
The president praised Naveed Ashraf and the Pakistan Navy for maintaining operational readiness and strong defence capabilities.
Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan is a responsible and peace-loving state that delivered a balanced response to aggression while demonstrating its defence strength to the world.
He reiterated support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and called for resolution of the dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
The president also termed India’s attempt to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty as “water terrorism” and stressed that water is a matter of survival for millions of Pakistanis.
He added that Pakistan, under the efforts of Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, has emerged as a symbol of regional balance and stability, while the country’s diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Iran-US conflict have been appreciated globally.
