Pakistan handed Test debuts to Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal for the first match of the series

DHAKA (Dunya News) - Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first against Bangladesh in the opening Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.

The two-match Test series between Pakistan national cricket team and Bangladesh national cricket team got underway in Dhaka, with Pakistan opting to bowl after winning the toss.

Pakistan handed Test debuts to Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal for the first match of the series.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam was unavailable for selection due to a knee injury. The team management confirmed on Thursday that Babar would miss the first Test due to knee injury. The officials did not disclose the severity of the injury or a possible recovery timeline.

According to the team management, Pakistan’s medical staff are continuing to assess the condition of the former captain. Further updates regarding Babar’s fitness and availability for the remainder of the series are expected in the coming days.

The second Test between the two sides is scheduled to begin in Sylhet on May 16.
