LAHORE (Dunya News) – Power Division Pakistan has outlined a new mechanism for distributing electricity subsidies, aiming to ensure targeted relief for eligible consumers.
Under the proposed system, subsidised electricity users will receive a QR code on their monthly bills. By scanning the code, consumers will be directed to a registration link where they must enrol to qualify for subsidy benefits.
Officials said the registration process would help ensure that financial assistance reaches low-income households and those with lower electricity consumption. Consumers will also be informed about the exact subsidy amount provided to them each month.
The Power Division noted that the move is part of broader reforms to replace the existing subsidy framework, with a focus on transparency and efficiency.
The initiative is intended to better target deserving users and prevent misuse, while maintaining support for vulnerable segments of society.
