Pakistan expresses hope for a US-Iran agreement, stresses protection of water resources, and says all options under the Indus Waters Treaty are under review

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed optimism over a potential agreement between the United States and Iran.

In a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that although details of the message exchanges between the two countries could be disclosed, Pakistan remained hopeful for a positive outcome.

He added that it is not yet clear whether the deal will be a single-page agreement or a longer document.

Andrabi also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to its natural resources, stating, “Not a single drop of Pakistan’s water can be taken illegally.” All options related to the Indus Waters Treaty are under consideration, the spokesperson added.

The Foreign Office highlighted that the international community continued to monitor peace and security in South Asia. Pakistani authorities, including the Indus Water Commissioner, are closely observing river conditions to ensure effective management of water resources.

The briefing coincided with the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, during which Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had earlier briefed the officials.
