ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An accountability court in Islamabad has announced its verdict in a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau against Mufti Ehsanul Haq.
The court handed down sentences to seven individuals for committing fraud in the name of Mudaraba, imposing a total fine of Rs1.48 billion on the convicts.
According to the verdict, Zubair Muhammad Khan was sentenced to three years in prison and fined Rs248.2 million, Kashif Shahab received three years imprisonment and a Rs448.4 million fine, while Asif Shahab was also given three years in jail along with a Rs474.6 million penalty.
Kamran Akhtar was sentenced to two years imprisonment and fined Rs12.4 million, Muhammad Suleman received two-and-a-half years in jail with a Rs147.4 million fine, Nauman was handed two years imprisonment and fined Rs89.7 million, while Abdullah Liaquat was sentenced to two years in jail and a Rs61 million fine.
The accused had been declared proclaimed offenders in 2013 and were arrested by NAB in 2023.
