ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided to carry out Pakistan’s first-ever IT census to compile comprehensive data on the country’s digital workforce and skills landscape.
According to reports, the census will be conducted jointly by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, with a focus on collecting detailed information on young people’s digital skills.
Sources in the IT Ministry said a nationwide record of the country’s IT workforce will be prepared. The census will also gather data on freelancers, video editors, and call center employees, while categorizing the skill sets of call center workers.
Officials say the initiative will, for the first time, provide reliable national IT data, helping the government with policy-making and planning, while also improving overseas job opportunities for Pakistani IT professionals.
