LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has established mediation committees to address land disputes, the Board of Revenue Punjab announced.

The department has issued a notification in this regard and it has been effective since April 30.

Under the notification, disputes will now be resolved in an Assistant Commissioner-led mediation committee before reaching the courts.

Each five-member committee will include the Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Collector, local revenue officials (Girdawar and Numberdar), and three members nominated by the disputing parties.

The committees have been granted authority under Section 151(2) of the Punjab Land Revenue Act 1967.

Their task is to resolve pending cases within 30 days, ensuring swift justice. A monitoring cell has also been established in the Board of Revenue Punjab to oversee their work.
