— Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Pakistan (@ForeignOfficePk) May 2, 2026The discussion comes amid heightened tensions in the region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route that has faced disruptions following escalating geopolitical tensions. The situation has raised concerns over global energy supply chains and economic stability.
The United Nations has also warned that continued instability in the region could have severe global economic consequences, including rising poverty and potential recession risks.
Pakistan has recently played a facilitative role in diplomatic efforts between regional and global powers, advocating dialogue as the primary path toward de-escalation and long-term peace.
