CTD Punjab arrests 21 suspects in 214 intelligence-based operations across multiple cities, recovering explosives and detaining individuals linked to banned outfits.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has carried out large-scale intelligence-based operations across the province, arresting 21 suspected terrorists during 214 raids, officials said.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operations were conducted in multiple cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Khanewal, Mianwali, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Gujrat, Pakpattan, and Bahawalpur based on intelligence reports.

Authorities stated that a dangerous suspect identified as Pir Shams, allegedly linked to a banned outfit, was arrested from Lahore along with explosive material. Another suspect, Abdul Latif from Toba Tek Singh, was also detained with explosive devices and is reportedly associated with the Baloch Liberation Army.

Officials said the arrested individuals were planning terrorist activities aimed at spreading fear among the public. Items recovered during the operations included an improvised explosive device (IED), 17 detonators, 39 feet of safety fuse wire, prohibited stickers, books, and cash.

In addition, CTD conducted 5,040 combing operations during the week, questioning 18,932 individuals and detaining 587 suspects for further investigation.
