LAHORE (APP) - The Punjab government has directed the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) to accelerate work on various ongoing health projects across the province.
The directive was issued by Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique while chairing a meeting of the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Nawaz Sharif Medical District and the under-construction Lady Willingdon Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that revolutionary and historic projects worth billions of rupees are being launched in the health sector. He highlighted that under the Nawaz Sharif Medical District project, several major facilities will be established in Lahore, including Children’s Hospital 2, Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases, Institute of Surgical, Orthopedic and Medical Rehabilitation, Center of Excellence for Nursing Education, a specialized medical hospital, a 1,000-bed cardiac hospital, a medical university, and a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory.
He added that IDAP has been directed to ensure early completion of these projects, while a network of new government hospitals is also being developed across the province to improve public access to healthcare.
